Starting Pre-Season? Here’s what to avoid
Share
Starting at a new club this summer? This period of time is often exciting and daunting. It’s a fantastic opportunity for you to grow and expand.
Here’s 5 things to avoid.
1. Only speaking to the players you already know. Cliques dismantle high performance culture. Create trust outside of your bubble.
1. Feeling guilty that you didn’t train hard enough over the summer. Your idea that you aren’t enough comes from lack. You lack nothing AND have incredible opportunity to get in brilliant shape over preseason.
2. Acting to impress new players and new coach instead of expressing all of you.
They didn’t sign you because you impressed, they have signed you to express all of your skill and talent when you play. Play to impress is not you highest potential, expressing it all is.
3. Comparing yourself and feeling resentful to players in the your position. They will get the best out of you, use them to inspire and drive your innovation of growth and improvement.
4. Dipping out of socials because you don’t drink. Noticing when you shrink in social situations is a great indicator for work you could do on confidence.
If you do drink- giving shit to those who don’t. Telling people what they should or shouldn’t do is a dictatorship + is only a reflection of your own insecurities. Get creative, the game isn’t to be liked in a team, is to create an environment for everyone in it to thrive. Opt in or out.
